Schedule: 4 x 10 hour days per week

Overview

Trail crew member of Dixie National Forest Recreation Program

Responsibilities

  • Perform trail work on wilderness, non-motorized, and motorized trails.
  • Work will be a combination of day trips and overnight multi-day hitches in wilderness/backcountry areas.
  • As part of recreation program, accomplish frontcountry recreation duties as assigned.
  • Alignment with Forest Service code and commitments: treating everyone with respect; empowering one another; investing in relationships; modeling integrity, and; protecting one another.
  • May perform a few hitches throughout the course of the season up to 8 days long in wilderness environment

Qualifications:

  • S-212 Chainsaw Training (provided)
  • First aid/CPR Training (provided)
  • Crosscut Sawyer Training (provided)
  • Experience backpacking and hiking in wilderness and backcountry environments
  • High safety awareness and experience in hazardous terrain
  • Ability to work holidays and weekends
  • Ability to mitigate hazards and reduce risk through effective planning and decision making
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a high-functioning and respectful team
  • Ability to safely navigate in backcountry environments both on foot and in vehicles
