Overview
Trail crew member of Dixie National Forest Recreation Program
Responsibilities
- Perform trail work on wilderness, non-motorized, and motorized trails.
- Work will be a combination of day trips and overnight multi-day hitches in wilderness/backcountry areas.
- As part of recreation program, accomplish frontcountry recreation duties as assigned.
- Alignment with Forest Service code and commitments: treating everyone with respect; empowering one another; investing in relationships; modeling integrity, and; protecting one another.
- May perform a few hitches throughout the course of the season up to 8 days long in wilderness environment
Qualifications:
- S-212 Chainsaw Training (provided)
- First aid/CPR Training (provided)
- Crosscut Sawyer Training (provided)
- Experience backpacking and hiking in wilderness and backcountry environments
- High safety awareness and experience in hazardous terrain
- Ability to work holidays and weekends
- Ability to mitigate hazards and reduce risk through effective planning and decision making
- Ability and desire to work as part of a high-functioning and respectful team
- Ability to safely navigate in backcountry environments both on foot and in vehicles
